"mornings on 2" starts now. >>> good morning, everybody. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm brian flores. dave clark has the morning off. >> good morning. i'm pack cook. tori campbell is off today. it's -- i'm pam cook. it it tori campbell is off today. >>> a christmas morning fire in the south bay. it started a few hours ago. janine de la vega is on the scene and joins us from campbell. how does it look out there, janine? >> reporter: well, the fire is out here at this commercial building on del avenue. firefighters are still putting water on it. you can actually see the smoke still rising in the air coming from that building. now, originally we were told that the firefighters had not entered the building yet for safety precautions. let's go to some video. here you can see some flames shooting from the roof. we were told they were 50 feet up in the air at one point. firefighters were called to the scene just before 5:00 a.m. they immediately started to attack it from the outside. the
. how are we doing for rainfall? what you will see here are a couple cities, santa rosa, san francisco, san jose, impressive when you look at santa rosa, 172% of average. 143 in san francisco. last year at this time they were doing 50, 30% of average. we are doing really well. what is happening now? we are watching this area. it will move through the area as we get into tomorrow. most of the showers will start later in the day. not as heavy rain. not as much wind but there will be showers. i will tell you when it starts and ends and what you can expect. >> thank you. >> video, a driver had to be plucked after his truck was surrounded by raging waters near livermore. a chp helicopter crew was called into rescue the man. you can tell it was dark. the chopper hovered over the truck to make the rescue. this happened about 9:00 last night. he was stranded in a creek. it was there for 2 hours. the pilot rested the left skid on the truck and the man was pulled aboard and was treated for hypothermia. >>> crews spend today looking for a drunk driver who disappeared after jumping into the creek.
spots available. other stores report brisk business. we get more from christian in san francisco. >> lot of shoppers came in and out of these doors today. the west vil shopping center says retailers were offering deep discounts to bring in the customers and lots of people were willing to spend while some are de pending on sant klaus for those last-minute gifts, lot of shoppers took matters into their own hands, grabbing back after bag after goodies to bring home on christmas eve. some say it doesn't feel like christmas without the adrenaline rush of shopping as the clock counts down. >> i like to consider myself a fourth-quarter player. i step up, you know, down the stretch, and thoo's what i'm all about, performing when it's crunch time. >> managers at the west field shopping center say i shally activity builds week by week following thanksgiving but that wubt the case this year. >> we had a really strong black friday. really the first two weeks of december were really strong and then it kind of lulled. it's almost like people forgot. >> that all changed as the weeks before christmas tu

. traffic is still being diverted to high street. traffic is moving nicely at san francisco at this hour and 280, not a lot of folks on the roadways, here is rosemary orozco. >>> our quiet weather is turning quite active by the afternoon and storm tracker 2 shows northern california has light rain and we have a sprinkle overhead. around parts of san pablo bay, we have some rain on and off and i am shifting but a moment ago i sawzall there. shifting -- i saw sal and shifting on and off, we saw showers. in and around the bridge we saw sprinkles into san francisco picking up rain clouds and sunset district into market and the downtown area we will remain mostly cloudy, just a few stray showers and steady rain is coming later with all the cloud cover acting as a blanket so it will not be as cold. low 40s in santa rosa it will be warmer and we are singing back into the mid-30s. 6:00 i want to show you that steadty line is out of the oakland bridge and by 2:00 in oakland you can expect to have that rain and by 5:00 everybody is getting wet and down into the south bay scattered showers. here i
